• Crowds are real. The well-known spots are well-known for a reason, and so everyone else wants them too. Weekday mornings are your friend.

If you want classic romance, soft greenery, dappled light and a sense of calm, it's hard to beat the Botanic Gardens. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the variety within it is huge: open lawns, tucked-away garden corners, heritage architecture and quiet lakes all in one space. It photographs as effortlessly elegant, and the greenery flatters every outfit. It's popular, so weekends get busy. We almost always shoot here early, when the soft morning light before the crowds arrive makes the difference between a calm shoot and a stressful one. Admission is free, and casual personal sessions don't need a permit, but commercial photography requires prior approval from NParks, submitted at least 14 days in advance. Fort Canning Park, heritage, staircases and that tree tunnel

Fort Canning is the city-centre hideaway that feels worlds away: colonial staircases, brick textures, leafy paths, and the famous Fort Canning Tree Tunnel with its spiral staircase, one of the most photographed spots in Singapore. It has heritage character with a green, romantic softness, and pairs beautifully with a nearby second location for variety. The Tree Tunnel is very popular, with queues of 30 minutes to over an hour even early, so if it's a must-have we go at first light on a weekday and move efficiently. Fort Canning Park is free and open 24 hours, with park lighting roughly 7am to 7pm. As with all NParks spaces, a professional shoot may need prior approval, which we manage for you.

It's free to enter and open 7am to 7pm daily, with gates closing after 7pm to protect the wildlife. Access is on foot via the East or West link bridges. Gardens by the Bay, high-impact and modern

If your taste runs more dramatic, Gardens by the Bay delivers visuals nowhere else in Singapore can: the Supertree Grove, the Cloud Forest, the futuristic conservatories. It's bold, modern and makes for striking, magazine-style images, especially indoors at the Conservatories where the weather is never a problem. The outdoor areas are public and busy, and shooting inside the attractions has rules and a fee structure, so a little planning goes a long way. For shoots inside the attractions, Gardens by the Bay offers a Personal Photoshoot package from $188 nett (including admission to two attractions, buggy transfer and complimentary parking; add-ons like a third attraction cost extra). Couples wanting the conservatories to themselves can book exclusive pre-opening use from $697.60 on weekdays or $1,308 on weekends for a one-hour session.
